What is happening in Year 6...?

Numeracy

In numeracy we have just finished looking at 3D shapes! We are now moving onto handling data!

Remember....

Median = sounds like middle!

MOst = MOst occuring

Mean = It is mean becuase we have to add all the numbers together!!

Range = The difference between the largest and smallest number!

Literacy

 

In literacy we are looking at the story 'Street Child' and thinking about life in the 1800's. We are using this as inspiration for our writing! We will be writing character descriptions, diary extracts and letters! Here are some of the images for our inspiration..

 

 

 



 

Our Art Afternoon!

This afternoon year 6 have been busy re-creating this image of a jungle...

The class was split into 6 groups, each group was given a piece of the picture to re-create! The challenge was to use a range of materials! The children hard at work...

We then put all of our pieces together! The Final Piece....

 

Our Class Debate!

Throughout this week in literacy, we have been researching graffiti and considering the for and againt argument!

 

We put our work into practise with a whole class debate to tackle the issue!

Snow Day!

I am assuming by now the snow may not be as exciting as it was this morning!

So... if you're struggling with what you can do to fill the rest of your day, then do not hestitate to log into reading eggspress or IXL! Go onto either fractions or decimals page on IXL or keep building your points on reading eggs.

In topic next week we will be experimenting ways to seperate  materials from solutions... Have a go at trying ways to seperate coffe, sand, sugar and anything else you can find from water! List your ideas and we'll discuss them on Monday!

In numeracy we will be looking at fractions as decimals and percentages. See if you can list as many simple fractions as decimals and percentages!

In literacy, we have been looking into the work of the famous street artist Banksy. We have been considering the creative message behind this artwork and using it as a positive for our debate on graffiti!
