The Easter Story

The Human Body!

To end a very busy Spring Term, we are going to look at the human body!

We are going to make life size human bodies and investigate how the body works...

To start off, we are going to look at the circulatory system!

We are then going to look at the skeletal system!

We are going to think about how the body work and how it is designed to help us move around! Our life size diagrams will show our progression throughout the week!

World Book Day!

World Book Day was a success!

Some of year 6 spent the morning creating their own superhero/villian on a large scale using a range of materials! They created some excellent and imaginative ideas!!

The rest of us spent the morning making videos of our favourite stories and writing arguments for why OUR villian was the WICKEDEST!

Friday, 1 March 2013

During our starters in literacy we have been writing descriptions for settings.

Here is Emma's description for a lake in a woodland...

'In the luscious wood the trees were as tall as the highest mountain (rustling in the gentle breeze) and sparkling in the sunlight, in the middle of the wood, was a glistening deep blue lake. Softly, the autumn leaves floated onto the ground. In the bushes, a faint sound of animals echoed.'

Well done Emma!

We have looked into the life of Queen Victoria and researched significant events througout her life and reign as Queen.

We used this information to write short biographies.

Making a Profit!

We linked Enterprise Week with our numeracy! Before we could find out our profit, we had to add up all of our costs! Firstly, we totalled up the cost for one box, we then used this to find the cost of all 4 boxes per pair.

Once we knew how much it was going to cost to make, we added on 10% to the cost to get our final price!

We then worked out how much profit we would make as a whole class if all boxes were sold!

We finally agreed on a sales price of 80p!

Advertising our Trinket Boxes!

We spent the day yesterday advertising our product! The first part of the morning we watched a clip from dragons dens and had a go and writing our own pitch! We then concentrated on writing up our advert! We looked at script writing and other adverts from the television to inspire our own ideas! We also linked it to our literacy work from last week and included our persuasive and rhetorical devices, like rhetorical questions, alliteration and the rule of '3', to help make our adverts as persuasive as possible!

Emma and Chloe's advert:

Chloe: It's magical
Emma: It's marvellous
Chloe and Emma: It's a miracle!

Emma: How badly do you need some more storage in your bedroom? Well we have the most magical memory boxes just for you.

Chloe: Have you decided what to get your marvellous mother for mothers day? Well worry no more, we have the perfect gift!

Emma: Can you remember ALL of your holidays, special days out and Birthdays? Well now you can, with its luxury padded lining you can rest assure that through think and thin all of your precious memories will stay safe! They're funky! They're fun! They're fabulous!

Chloe: Buy one now while stocks last for an amazing 80p! What a bargain for these magical, hand crafted boxes!

Enterprise Week - The Final Stage!

On Wednesday, we spent the whole day making our Trinket Boxes! The first stage was to use our plans of our nets to make our templates. Once the boxes were stuck together, we decorated them using tissue paper mache! We then followed out plans to add on our designs, this ensured each box is completely unique and the childrens own work!

It was a tough and challenging day but the work that was produced was of a very high standard!
